Brain Hurts!

I got to hand it to bloggers able to do this everyday!

So for the past three and a half hours I have been trying to develop a savory panna cotta for the menu, that if it passes. Heres this issue, traditionally it must be cold, many people wont enjoy savory items cold, so I need to develop something that they will like cold.

Its amazing how different this industry has changed, we went from people loving to try new things to eating shrimp cocktails. I just dont get it anymore, you might as well buy shrimp, simmer it in oldbay seasoned water and buy jarred cocktail sause! Seriously people be daring.

So back to panna cotta. I got to figure something out. I will keep everyone posted, thats if anyone even reads this.

August 22, 2009

Today I finally spent time with my family. We went food shopping, including a local farm stand where I picked up some fresh cider, and I want to go back for some figs!!! We also saw Julie & Julia, and I must say it was a great foodie movie.

Growing up I use to watch Julia Child with my grandfather and always admired her humor. But there was one life lesson you could learn from watching Julia and thats you must always roll with the punches. Whether she dropped the omlet or accidently cut herself she made the best out of every situtation, basically if you messed up during the process of making something, you could always refer back to Julia telling you it was okay.

Sometimes I wish I could found that 21st century Julia, she was a loving caring individual and always thought about others. She was a real woman, loved her husband Paul, and cared for everyone.

I dont know, maybe my Julia Child is out there somewheres.......
